Jak, also known by his birth name of Mar, is one of the two main characters of the Jak and Daxter series. He has two alter-egos named Dark and Light Jak. Jak was the son of Damas, the former ruler of Haven City. At some point before the events of Jak II, he was kidnapped by Count Veger and subsequently lost. He was later found wandering around in the streets by Samos. Samos then placed him Catch 200 pounds of fish was a mission in The Precursor Legacy that Jak and Daxter completed to earn a power cell and gain access to Misty Island. After stumbling upon him in the Forbidden Jungle, the Fisherman told Jak and Daxter that a lurker shark took a bite out of his fishing boat. He asked Jak to catch 200 pounds of fish for him, who eventually succeeded in doing so. Completion of this Krew was a supporting character and eventual secondary antagonist in Jak II, also mentioned in Daxter and appearing post-mortem in Jak X: Combat Racing. The Rift Gate (also called the rift ring) is a Precursor artifact in Jak II. It is used to travel through time, and requires the Rift Rider to make it work, which requires two Precursor artifacts known as the Heart of Mar and the Time Map.
