I decided to finally get GTA The Trilogy on steam during a sale, I tried to play GTA Vice City but every time I open the game it says the game requires at least directx 1.8 (even know I directx 12 comes with windows 10) to play the game and also says "An app on your PC requires the following feature Directplay.
I guess that I have to keep the disc image mounted for now and ever. Not a major drawback, but incredibly puzzling. EDIT: Windows rights issue with the folder, the .exe hadn't actually been replaced. Make sure to then use a no-cd exe. I got mine from GameCopyWorld. Also, when installing, make sure to check the option to install the music to the hard drive. Together, these measures will remove the need for having the disc in the drive, which will also remove any copy protection that may be causing the issue.
